The Shop Is Temporarily Offline

I’m playing a new game. It’s called Buying Darkfall Online. It’s a new MMO by Aventurine wherein the player pits his or her skill against the company’s billing software. To the victor go the spoils, and should the player manage to overcome the least scalable credit card billing system known to the Internet then it’s time to play Darkfall! Maybe. Urhi, one of the few strong enough to purchase the game says this of the game launch,

“…in conclusion they haven’t really managed to launch the game yet so my opinion on it remains neutral. There is a possibility they may never be able to launch but I am a fairly forgiving customer (maybe it’s the programmer in me). I would also like to see a small company succeed as all recent MMO’s have been from big brand names. It has a nice rule set and many things are “in the same flavor” as UO which I didn’t get into here (chopping trees, backpack organization, killing a mob with a bow and being able to equip that bow after the mob is dead and use it). Despite the poor experience I am still excited to see what my next log on brings, *assuming they fix some of the major issues*.”

Urhi added later, “An added note I saw 3 guilds build cities while I was on (I think that cost 2000 gold). Not sure how they managed to do this as I “played” for 4 hours and only managed to get 7 gold, which I lost. Perhaps they were in beta and characters were not reset perhaps the game was running earlier with no problems or maybe they just used bugs, no idea. On a related note when I trekked across the map I saw some VERY epic guild city locations waiting to be claimed. Also, there seemed to be a severe lack of mobs in general (no deer or bears roaming around), but once again I can’t judge that yet seeing as how they may just have been invisible.”

So now I continue, alone and affraid,  to pit my Refresh ability against Darkfalls web based billing system. Although I may not walk away from this, one thing has become clear. Aventurine will get my money, it is just a matter of when will they let me give it too them?
